Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state, has received high commendations from a House of Assembly aspirant Amb Paul Alika, for his developmental strides across the state.
Alika was speaking at his residence in Agbor, while playing host to executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta state Council, led by Comr. Michael Ikeogwu.
He expressed satisfaction with Governor Okowa’s performance since he assumed office on May 29, 2015 describing him as God-sent.
Alika also expressed optimism that the people of Delta State would experience more infrastructural developments in years to come, if Okowa continues to pilot the affairs of the State.
Alika observed that Okowa had shown good leadership traits, by ensuring that the 25 Local Government Areas of the state felt the impact of good governance.
He pointed out that Governor Okowa's administration had recorded more developmental projects in less than three years with meagre resources at his disposal.
According to Alika, " it would be witchcraft for anyone to see what Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa is doing across the state and not commend him. We are proud of the State governor because he has proven his worth as a good and visionary leader. He is ready to carry Deltans along. God gave us a good leader, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa who knows what good governance means to the people".
While congratulating the state exco of the NUJ, Alika also emphasized the importance of reciprocating Okowa's generosity and requested prayers and cooperation from the NUJ in order to move the state forward.
The House of Assembly hopeful told the union executive that his ambition to represent the Ika South Constituency in the state, was God's directive, conceived out of his interest to serve the people and replenish whatever they must have lost. He disclosed that it was high time credible leaders were elected to represent their people at all levels. Alika also noted that the welfare, collective and individual interests of the Ika South people, were his utmost priorities.
His words" If we don't elect credible leaders there would not be change. I urge the youths who have the interest of the people to run for elections. The youths need to represent the people and report back to the elders and that is why I always advise everyone to be proactive rather than being reactive as it is the case in recent times".
Earlier, the chairman of the Delta state Council of the NUJ, comr. Ikeogwu, stated that the visit was part of the cardinal agenda of the union to familiarize with individuals and cooperate organizations within their area of operation geared towards enacting a cordial relationship. He noted that the union had been cooperating with the state government towards actualising its SMART agenda.
The NUJ boss who also used the opportunity to commend the state governor for his developmental strides and for his effort towards completing the Union's Secretariate, reassured Deltans of the union's cooperation and commitment to publicise the government's activities in good light.
His words, " I want to use this opportunity to thank the governor for his effort towards the completion of the NUJ secretariate. We shall continue to be partners in the development and progress of our dear state. You can draw our attention charitably whenever or wherever you feel we are not living up to expectation and also call on us whenever you need us and we shall respond and respond timely" Ikeogwu remarkably assured.
