By Ernest Onyeagbor
Luxuries and lies are costly to maintain while truth and simplicity are self maintaining. Tsm Media Crew went to Town after a - 24 minutes phone conversation with the member representing Ika South at the Delta State House of Assembly. Peruse our investigation!
Mr Monday Oribe the Chairman of Abavo Vigilante Outfit in the presence of the Secretary and PRO stated that a meeting was convened for Hon Okoh Festus during his electioneering campaigns in 2015 were he pleaded with their 202 members to support his election and they informed him that Bus was their major challenge and he promised to provide a Utility Bus for them if he wins. Hon Ehimatie Amaechi, Hon Smart Jegbefume and Comr. Simeon Boi were in the said meeting. The Vigilante leaders asserted that they worked out their hearts to ensure that he emerged victorious. After waiting hopelessly for the Bus they sent him a letter reminding him of the promise he made. The Honourable member told Tsm Media that he never made such a promise but Simon Boi confirmed that he was present when the promise was made at Abavo. An inquiry sent to the House of Assembly member was not responded to before going to press.
On the issue of stipends arrears, Hon. Festus Okoh stated that Governor Okowa pays him #1.6 million monthly from which he pays salary of #1million, fueling and sundry expenditure of #. 5million. He explained that those who said he owe them was because the State could not meet up with their financial obligations. Comr. Boi Simeon said that he opted out of the payments by December 2017 because of the inconsistent mode of the payment.
On the issue of the #100 million Naira constituency projects, our sources said Austin More Ltd was the name of the firm used in executing the jobs of Schools renovation, constructions of Blocks of Classroom and supplies of chairs, tables etc. The House of Assembly member said that the projects were domiciled with the ministry of Basic /Secondary Education and contracts were awarded through bidding processes. The one million dollars question is where are these projects located in Ika South? We also learnt that another tranche of #100 million Naira has been approved for year 2018.
In this era of probity and accountability, is it not suicidal to return any representative with questionable scorecard? Is our amiable Governor really strangulating our house of Assembly member ?
The honourable member narrated several Bills that he sponsored and motions moved but verification is at an advance stage.
